Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an approach that allows people to alleviate symptoms and emotional distress that are experienced from disturbing incidents and life experiences. EMDR is helpful for people suffering trauma and Post traumatic Stress Disorder.

EMDR is a psychotherapy approach that has demonstrated to help people suffering from trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder and disturbing memories. The technique of the MDR uses right / left eye movement stimulation which repeatedly activates the opposite sides of the brain releasing negative emotional experiences that are “locked” in the nervous system. This process involves the client bringing attention to three time periods: 
  1. past disturbing memories and events
  2. current situations that bring distress
  3. developing strategies and attitudes required to bring about positive and proactive future actions.
